Question of the Day

In movies, the way the hero and heroine meet is called the “meet cute”.  Name one of your favorite “meet cutes” (books or movies) and tell us what made it so memorable/enjoyable for you?

Fictionally speaking, I think it’s hilarious when there’s a kidnapping, especially when the wrong person has been kidnapped.

I love the meet cute from the kushiels series. There are several depending on the situation, but the main attraction between Phèdre and Joscelin gets me every time. 🙂

Tori

  on October 21, 2017 :

Love the meeting of Darcy and Lizzie. Miscommunication and misjudgment are so entertaining

Courtney Tonokawa

  on October 21, 2017 :

I recently finished A Court of Mist and Fury, and can now say that Feyre and Rhys’ first meeting in the previous book, A Court of Thorns and Roses, is one of my favorites.

Molly Shahly

  on October 21, 2017 :

I love Ellie and Rain’s first meeting! I love how they alway had feelings for eachother, even when they first met.

Christina Baynes

  on October 21, 2017 :

Rain and Ellysetta. It’s just so powerful an introduction to one another.

Jade Crane

  on October 21, 2017 :

Khamsin and Winters first meeting. even though they didn’t really know each other the spark was there already

Kyla

  on October 21, 2017 :

I have to agree that I loved Rain and Ellysetta’s first meeting! He had such strong, overwhelming feelings, and made this wildly dramatic appearance. Meanwhile Ellie had no idea what was going on.

Heather Hutchinson

  on October 21, 2017 :

When Corbin Dallas and Leelou meet in the Fifth Element. Big bada boom!

Stephanie H.

  on October 21, 2017 :

In the Incredibles the way Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible meet (or the scene where they show them together for the 1st time)

Mary McCoy

  on October 21, 2017 :

While You Were Sleeping, interesting when the heroine falls for the brother of the guy in the coma and they try so hard not to be attracted to each other

Megan

  on October 21, 2017 :

FALLING DOWN by Anne Mercier – not sure if I spelled her last name correctly. The H/h met a couple of times but they simply bumped into each other. Then when they have the “big meet” the H walks in on the h jamming out on his and his band mates’ musical instruments. It was funny and I loved how the H remembered the h years later when they had only spent a few minutes together.

Rebekah Cowan

  on October 21, 2017 :

I have always enjoyed the meet cute when a couple reconnects after many years of being apart. Maybe one doesn’t recognize the other right away which only adds to it

Lisa Ayers

  on October 21, 2017 :

I’ve always loved how Scarlett and Rhett met in GWTW. They both get to show the real selves that they hide from the world around them. They eventually come back to those real selves in spite of the world trying to keep them apart. Scarlett still has some growing up to do though!

Jessica Jones

  on October 21, 2017 :

When Ellie and Rain met in the Tairen Soul series. It was absolutely Epic!

Megan

  on October 21, 2017

Agreed

Dana Hess

  on October 21, 2017 :

Loved Khamsin and Wynter’s first meeting even though it was not in person…he proved himself as a natch for her

MEgan

  on October 21, 2017 :

I love Ellie and Rain’s meeting! So intense and exciting. I just love the significance of the moment for Rain and the total confusion yet strength of Ellie

Myranda

  on October 21, 2017 :

Hard to choose! The one that comes to mind right now is from The Seduction of Elliot McBride. They actually already knew each other but the book starts with her sitting on his stomach in a church while wearing her wedding dress. She was jilted at the alter and he was drinking to avoid seeing her marry someone else. Great book!

Dawn Lewis

  on October 21, 2017 :

My favorite meet cute has to be from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series. In Night Pleasures, the main characters Kyrian and Amanda wake up handcuffed together. It’s great because the enemies mistake her for her twin sister, and she and Kyrian are exact opposites, but have to work together to escape, leading to their falling in love.

Ahh I love Kenyon. 🙂 so many great stories and couples in her books too.

Amanda Warner

  on October 21, 2017 :

I love, love, love, Ellie and Rain’s first meet! I have read it at least a dozen times. Kham and Wynter’s was pretty awesome as well bc she was in disguise as a servant girl. The electricity (literally) was undeniable. I really enjoyed Mac and Barron’s (from the Fever series by K.M. Moning) first encounter as well. It was much darker then the afore mentioned couples though. Still LOVED it!

Oh, you can’t go wrong with Mac and Barrons. 🙂
