You’re asking me to choose a favorite? Of all my fictional protagonists? Unless you’ve got about 12 hours, and a tolerance for a person expounding upon the gloriousness of any given genre series, I might narrow it down to 10…but honestly, I’m still going to have to go with a Fading Lands character. Bel. Bel has been my favorite of all of Rainier’s inner circle, standing with him through the rage and all the time that passed when he finally found Ellysetta. Bel’s steadfast love for both Rain and Elly reminds me that there will always be at least *one* solid friend through all of the times that happen in life; the good, the bad, and everything in between.

Harry Dresden — despite having a “Charlie Brown-never-kicking-the-football” type life, he always gets it done. And usually in an inimitable style!

I like Adelina Amoutera from the young elites very much. The description is awesome. The difference between light and darkness is very cool. And Ellysetta of course. But there are so many books and their protagonists, who are incredible.

Sooo many! But right now, I’m thinking that in my next life I wanna be Cat Crawfield. Jeaniene Frost’s heroine from the Night Huntress series. She’s strong, smart, and a total badass. Tomorrow, I might say Eve Dallas or Jane Yellowrock. Oooh, oooh, maybe Charlie Davidson the day after that.

Joana

  on October 13, 2017 :

Kaleb Krychek from Nalini Singh’s PSY Changeling series.

He’s character is so complex yet he can love so deep. I’m imagining he reallydo exists somewhere in Moscow and maybe one day gonna find something on my mailbox that says

Joana,

FRom Russia with Love

Kaleb.

See. I’m pathetic. *_*

Ellysetta! I love that even though she was scared of herself (magic) she was able to grow into who she was meant to be for herself, her family, and her people.

  on October 12, 2017 :

I have so many favorite protagonists. One that hasn’t been mentioned is Mercy Thompson. I love that she cares about people and is always willing to put herself out there to help them.

Tori

  on October 12, 2017 :

Ellie…she grows so much and changes but also stays true to herself. Plus she is super fiercely protective of her loved ones.

Kat T.

  on October 12, 2017 :

Kvothe from The Name of the Wind. He’s just so competent and flawed.

teresa

Hmm hard one. There’s so many good ones. Emma from jane austen. Because she doesn’t give up.

  on October 12, 2017 :

It is not from a romance book, but I would have to say Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird. I loved her innocence and how she tried to make sense of the happenings around her.

Robin K Bagley

  on October 12, 2017 :

Tough question… there are a lot of great characters out there! I’d say right now one of my favorite protagonists is Piers Yelverton, Earl of Marchant, from When Beauty Tamed the Beast. I like that he’s a bit of an ornery character, instead of a super suave one.

Archeron’s brother Stynxx from the Dark Hunter series

Bridget Clark

  on October 12, 2017 :

Styxx from the Dark Hunter series. He is a good reminder that we never really know the whole story until we walked a mile in that character’ mind. Plus there is something inspiring in a character that is willing to truely forgive and start fresh.

Danielle Schick

  on October 12, 2017 :

Karou from daughter of Smoke and Bone, she’s just cool and funny

Natalia Jaramillo

  on October 12, 2017 :

For me it’s Ella from Ella enchanted. She was a smart and strong young woman. Love the whole book.

Tiffany M

  on October 12, 2017 :

Sarah Crew – I would have liked to be her friend. I imagined her as a real life Cinderella, and her kindness and attitude were put to the test.

Shana Murray

  on October 12, 2017 :

It would have to be both Ellysetta and Rain. Ellysetta because of her curiosity and acceptance and how she fights through the fear of magics that she learned growing up to fall for Rain and become his Queen. Rain for his indomitable spirit and how he learns that while his past may hold painful memories and actions, that he can learn from them and that they do not define him.

I love Jo from the book called Down London Road. She is such a giving character and people constantly think the worst of her but she takes it. Such a strong woman with lots of sass
