Eru Ice Tongue Sea Tongue

Eru

All civilized nations of Mystral speak a common tongue, called Eru. For the purposes of the novels, Eru is written as english. There are however a couple of phrases mentioned in the books in their actual Eru form

gunter – giant
erta – summer
fys – killer
skurm – a foul word for a woman, an epithet

Ice Tongue

In addition to Eru, Winterfolk have their own northern dialect called Ice Tongue. Rather than inventing the Ice Tongue language from scratch, in keeping with the Norse/Skyrim feel of Wintercraig, I used a combination of old Icelandic and old Norse for Ice Tongue.

Sea Tongue

Sea Tongue, the Calbernan dialect, is a language I did create from scratch. As Calberna is a seafaring, island nation, I thought something rather Hawaiian-sounding would fun to play with, although I didn't limit myself to the same restricted phoneme set. The more Hawaiian aspects of the language are more notable in THE SEA KING.
