Question of the Day

Some people love to read novels set in Scotland.  Some people love to read about serial killers.  Some people love to read books about aliens who fall in love with earthlings.  What’s one of your favorite book tropes and what it is that you find so appealing about it?

I love romance. Especially the sexy, paranormal kind haha! Ideally there’s some good plot, characters, world building etc in there too though.

I love the hate to love relationships storylines. They are just so hilarious and love the banter between the characters.

I like reading about different worlds and different times because it gives me a way to do so many things that I may never get to do. Because of books I have swam in the deepest oceans, flown through the skies, seen different worlds, lived, laughed and loved a thousand different ways.

i love fairytales (Cinderella, beauty and the beast, snow white etc). I like all the varying versions/retellings that authors think up and the stories that are loosely based on them. I love the fantasy and romance.
another fav of mine is historical romance (regency, Scottish, medieval)

My all time favorite story trope is Beauty and the Beast. I know that sounds like a story, but I think it’s been retold so many times now that it’s become its own trope.

I love historical romance. I love taking a step back in time, the ability to catch a glimpse of our human history while falling in love with the characters.

Was just thinking about this yesterday. My favorite genre is epic fantasy romance. All 3 of my favorite genres in one. I think I like fantasy so much because it is a mini vacay from my real life.

I love reading anything that is well written. But avoid discord in any way.
Loved Barbara Cartland books, growing years!

I prefer fantasy worlds. With magical races and creatures. Authors like yourself actually invent your own languages. That’s so amazing! I love the creativity!

JESSICA LOGAN

  on October 13, 2017 :

I will pretty much read anything, but I really love books based on actual history.

Julie

  on October 13, 2017 :

If a book utilizes the beauty and the beast trope, I am 100% going to read it–even better if the hero is an actual beast.

Janet

  on October 13, 2017 :

I love sci-fi/fantasy worlds. I even love books about sci-fi/fantasy worlds that are linked to the real world.

Rex Anne

  on October 13, 2017 :

I like places that are somewhat real. If it is set in New Orleans but has a paranormal twist to it. Or, if it is a completely fictional land but you see elements of medieval Europe.

I do not like places that are too real because I live in the real world and use books/movies to escape.

Dawn Lewis

  on October 13, 2017 :

I love anything paranormal – vampires, shifters, demons. I think it’s because the world is serious enough. I read to escape into a different world of fantasy.

Terry LePage

  on October 13, 2017 :

I love sci-fi/fantasy stories about people who discover they have magical, extra-ordinary senses/powers and have to learn to accept them and themselves, as well as decide whether to use them for good or evil purposes
