ANNOUNCING: WINNERS OF THE 2008 TAIREN SOUL POETRY CONTEST

Dahl‘reisen Lament, by Rebekah Lyness, Berwick, Victoria, Australia.

Soul stained black by darkness
I've been banished to this half life.
All I have left is remembered honour
And for this I now must fight.
I'll protect those that I left behind
So they'll never feel this sorrow.
I'll hold the line day and night
So my fey brethern will not follow

Tairen‘s Chant to His Beloved, by Ashley Denman, Ocklawaha, FL, USA.

On dream’s whispered breath, I search for thee.
On wings of hope, I soar.
On desire's breeze, I call to thee,
And pray with song and roar.

Eternal Song, by Arabella Hancock, San Gabriel, CA, USA.

I watch my loved ones weep with sorrow,
deaths silent torment of no tomorrow.
I feel their hearts breaking, I sense their despair.
united in misery, the grief that they share.

How do I show that, I am not gone...
but the essence of life’s everlasting song
Why do they weep? Why do they cry?
I’m alive in the wind and I am soaring high.

I am sparkling light dancing on streams,
a moment of warmth in the rays of sunbeams.
The coolness of rain as it falls on your face,
the whisper of leaves as wind rushes with haste

I watch while you sleep in the quiet of night
I am shining from stars, I am brilliant and bright
I await the time for our journey to begin
Our souls reunite and as one we will sing.

Sheitanitsa Reign composed by Lady Flarien DuChanis, by Ariel Hacker, Monument, CO, USA

Gliding in the fragile cold
Tairen does not shiver
Singing to the Moon, so bold
As many nations quiver

There was a time so long ago
Warriors side by side
We fought the dark with spear and bow
With fear and burning pride

Ghosts remain in shadow's scorn
Remaining not by will
Soon in time the child is born
And stolen, to the hills

The flame-haired child was taken away
And many a blessing came
Grown tame and strong, she stood astray
Her parents none to blame

A forced betrothal, one boy connived
Her soul screamed in alarm
From the sky, Tairen Soul arrived
To protect her from harm

Stride by stride the bond was made
An all but simple endeavor
Many terrors paved the way
But they were strong and clever

Their Tairen Song grows stronger yet
Together in the night
A bitter voice of no regret
Strengthening their might

War creeps up, beyond the mountains
Lurking at our door
The blood comes next in gruesome fountains
And I will sing no more

Born Live Die, by Jessica Julian, Banner Elk, NC, USA

I am born a thousand times
When I see you
I live a thousand lives
When I am with you
And I die a thousand deaths
When you leave

Dance of Knives, by Bridget Clark, Warrington, PA, USA.

A flick of wrists,
    A seldom miss.
A deadly song,
    The Dance goes on.
So learn it well,
    This warrior’s spell.
For a killing blade,
    Means many lives saved.

Tairen Song, by Lynda Hendrix, Wellford, SC, USA

Tairen heart and tairen soul
Will face the night as one.
The strength of two in tairen love
Can never be undone.

Light up the sky with tairen flame
And hear the tairen song.
It sings of hope and life to come
Where tairen souls belong.

Dahl’reisen’s Plea, by Ashley Denman, Ocklawaha, FL, USA.

Shadowed Path,
soothing path,
Choice from pain and sadness.
Aching path,
desperate path,
Escape from lonely madness.
Darkened path,
forsaken path,
Hide from fear and sorrow.
Lonely path,
empty path,
Save me from the 'morrow.

Flight of the Tairen Lovers, by Phyllis Bright, Lubbock, TX, USA.

Come fly with me my love
Spread your wings with glee
Into the skies above
Together we will fly free

Come fly with me my mate
The one that fills my heart
Together passion we will sate
And never will we part

Fiercest of Fey, by Sigrid Robinson, Fulton MO, USA.

Fading Lands, Faering Mists.
Fey warrior, champion of Light.
Fading Lands, Faering Mists.
Leading a never ending Fight.

Tairen Soul:
Singing, soaring high.
Tairen Soul:
Thundering, roaring cry.

Fading Lands, Faering Mists.
Fey warrior, fiercest of Fey.
Fading Lands, Faering Mists.
Alone, leading the way.

Beyond the Faering Mists, by Bridget Clark, Warrington, PA, USA.

A hidden land forbidden land,
    Beyond the Faering Mists.
A people gone except in song,
    Beyond the Faering Mists.
Where magic’s spun and great work’s done,
    Beyond the Faering Mists.
Where Fey still dwell behind the spell,
    That is the Faering Mists.

Shan, by Asia Bey, Evergreen Park, IL, USA.

My love
My mate, My Shei'tani
My life in this cage of pain
My soul's other half
My heart's true companion
I am not free
to touch her
to protect her
Though we our one

My love
My child, My daughter
My gift to the world
My gift from the gods
I am not free
to hold her
to know her
Though she is the one
to save my people
to end my torment

Congratulations to all the winners, and many thanks to all the poets who entered their work. All the poems were wonderful.

Thanks also to all the Friends of the Fey who voted for their favorite poems. Your participation is very much appreciated!!!
